More KL pics

The fountain in Merdaka Square in Kuala Lumpur where we repeatedly found ourselves after walking in circles...

Biiiiig buildings

They've got some biiiiig buildings in KL....biiiig, man!!

Merlion

This is the other Merlion in Singapore. This is the one on Sentosa Island that you can climb up into the mouth. We didn't, as it was rainy...but you could.

Yummy food!

I love this pic of John....this was after the Raffles Bar downstairs at a cafe in the Raffles Plaza. We had the traditional Malay food of laksa and a delish beancurd thingie. Yum!

Singapore Slings!!

Here you see me and Johnny at Raffles Bar in Singapore, where a hundred years ago or something like that, they invented the world famous drink the Singapore Sling. Yes people, right there at that bar....history in the making!! We tried it....it was sweet but good (to me at least!) Somehow they also get away with charging like 20 Singapore dollars, which is like $15 I think...for one drink!! I guess when you did invent it, you can charge whatever you like to the poor, unsuspecting whities with large pocketbooks (or so they think!!) It seems everyone in Singapore has money! That was a weird thing..there is absolutely NO poverty in Singapore. Everyone who is of the worker class (mostly Indians!) live across the water.

Helaconia

This cool plant in the Singapore Botanical Gardens is called Helaconia. We don't have this in Canada, right?! I also can't figure out if this photo is right side up???

Gnome 2

Here is Gnomie again at Orchard subway station in Singapore. Orchard St. is the more high end shopping street.

My gnome away from home!

Mom sent me this little Gnome Away from Home kit for Christmas, and this little guy accompanied me on my whole trip. He even flew Singapore airlines for free (they have a gnome clause....) Yep, so here is my gnome friend on the bed at Hotel Bencoolen in Singapore!! He thought it was pretty comfy...

Fuzzy bar shot

This is a shot from a bar we went to in Boat Quey...I thought it was a cool shot, because I was playing with effects on my new camera and it was all fuzzy with diffused light.

Fishies!

Some fishies at the cool Sentosa Island aquarium in Singapore....it had this cool moving sidewalk that took you under this overhead aquarium...it was cool, but very crowded.

Orchids

Here are some more of the beautiful Singaporean orchids at the Botanical Gardens in Sing....aren't they elegant?!

FOOD!

The bowl shows a dish of prawn noodles that John and I shared in China Town. The pic with John with his tongue out shows just how HOT and spicy the chili crab is that we had at the Hokkien 'steamboat' restaurant. It was spicy man!!

More Singapore

Here is a shot of Boat Quey in Singapore where there was a line of good bars and eateries. The famous Singaporean symbol of the Merlion is just across the river. Here are two shots from different directions.

A cool, speckled pink and green-ish variety.

I got some great shots of the orchids...here are some more!

Christmas tree!

So, the Christmas season was apparent in some places...aka Raffles Square in Singapore!

Chili crab anyone?

One of the signs of the street vendors along Smith St. in China Town in Singapore. Chili crab is a culinary favourite!

China Town at night

Singapore's China Town district at night

Cable car to Sentosa

So, I've decided to start at the very beginning of the trip again. Here are some more pics from Singapore. This is the cable car we took from the mainland to Sentosa Island. It was a dreary, rainy day and John was a little scared of the cable car!!

The view from afar...

Not the most interesting photo, but it gives you an idea of what the Pinnacles Desert looks like on a larger scale....

One of the more irregular pinnacles in the desert...this one had cool crevices and stuff!

Don't even think it..

Here is one lone pinnacle.....

Roo tracks!

Yes people, these are genuine kangaroo tracks in the Pinnacles Desert sand. Mind you, we didn't see any wildlife....any life at all in fact, in the desert. Just the tracks to remind us that the roos are watching us....somewhere!

My best?

Perhaps my best pinnacles pic....I dunno- you be the judge! Look at that contrast!!

Johnny profile!

Johnny picked the right outfit to wear to the desert...white not only keeps you cool, but it looks good against the blue sky and reddish earth!

Quiet Contemplation

Me contemplating the pinnacles again...how DID they come to be this way? How can ANYONE live in a town with only 400 people? (Cervantes!!)

Johnny in Pinnacles

Johnny sits unaware that I am taking his photo in the Pinnacles Desert....such a cool shot...one of my favourites!

Our Getz

Our little white Hyundai Getz...'El Diablo Blanco Dos' waiting patiently in the heat of the desert.

A tree!!! (and a pinnacle)

I think everyone takes this shot (look on John's website and he has the exact same photo!) because it is one of the only glimpses of green in a sea of red dust.....

I love all my Pinnacles pics!

The Pinnacles Desert makes you feel like you are a photo journalist extraordinaire!!

Me and the pinnacles

Me, contemplating the pinnacles in Cervantes' Pinnacles Desert...am I on the moon?!

Beach shot

Johnny and I on the beach after visiting some Margaret River wineries. John is wearing one of his new bucket hats that he bought to cover his poor burned head!! I am wearing my goofy (but tres cool) new huge red sunnies :0

Aussie flag

Here is a pic of a ginormous Aussie flag (backwards) that was flying at Voyager Estate Winery...a pretty winery that had a rose garden too :)

View from Edwards Winery

An invitation to take a walk through the vines at Edwards Winery. This was the first winery we stopped at, coming into Margaret River area just before the 5pm closing time for most of the local wineries.

Pretty pic!

The path along the Cape to Cape trail from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin north of Dunsborough.

Johnny wades........

Johnny wades out into the crystal clear (albeit a bit chilly sometimes) waters of Oz...

People on the Beach

There were lots of people on the beach on Christmas Eve...having one more late night swim, or drinking a glass of wine like us!

Me on the beach on Christmas Eve

Here I am on South Beach in Fremantle, Australia...on Christmas Eve. Yup- Christmas Eve in shorts and a tank top!! The sunset was very pretty...
